Even breakfast isn't sacred anymore!
After Geri and Lanya went their way this morning -- off to their respective churches -- my wife, B, and I went to meet friends for our regular Sunday morning breakfast club. This weeks target was Miss Katie's Diner, a classic diner-car style place near Marquette University. As we approached I saw a motorcoach and several people in blue pea coats with cell phones pressed to their ears. Oh no, I thought, Kerry people! Sure enough, the Senator was at the dinner, shaking hands and talking to the diners, full press corps in tow. What a lot of mayhem! I was proud to wear my Dean for America pin, which caught his eye as he shook my hand! He tried to engage me in conversation, but got himself wrapped up in some ill-fated attempt to act like he understood the problems I faced running an Internet consultancy and ended up muttering semi-coherently about a company in CA which had early success on the Internet but then foundered. I replied that that described an awful lot of businesses, he nodded and moved on to the next person.
Best moment - my friend T.D complaining loudly that the photographers should all be chased out of the kitchen, loudly enough to fluster the radio reporters who were right next to him at the time!

15 minutes of fame are ticking down...
Not only did our breakfast club make the ABC World News Tonight last night, not only did we make the nightly news at least on Channel 12 - WISN (we have that one on tape for those of you who missed it) No, there is more, we made the New York Times - The paper of record!
Attached is a photo which ran on page A-13 of this morning's edition:

Looks as though Janis's head (below the clock, a bit to the right) and my pony tail are the stars this time - sorry Lois!
Cheers,
